Our Fifth to Eighth Grades Art Class
Art education at P.S./I.S. 208 encompasses the major aspects of art including drawing, painting, three-dimensional art/sculpture, the elements of art and principles of design. Throughout the year students will complete at least one project in each of these areas. During art lessons students will participate in art making, art history, critiques, and aesthetics activities. Children will be looking at art (critique/art history) to learn about other cultures, places, artists and works of art. Students will be talking about art (aesthetics) to discuss meanings, ideas, feelings and moods. Students will also make art (art making) to create expressive visual images. In addition, most art lessons will be connected to other subject areas.
